REUBEN BROOKS
Before relocating to Melbourne in late 2025, I was a studio engineer at New Zealand Media and Entertainment for 4 years, responsible for producing radio advertisements, podcasts, and other audio content for our media brands.

I collaborated with creatives and clients, recorded and directed voice talent, voiced ads, and juggled multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy and consistency across all my work.

My musical background was indispensable in this role. Having used Ableton and Logic for over 7 years, I was able to use techniques I've learned from music production to bring my audio to life.

Outside of NZME, I have worked as a freelance audio engineer recording and mixing voiceover on Fiverr, recording and mixing live bands, DJing, and producing music for clients including McDonalds, ZM and Veneziano Coffee Roasters.

"I worked closely with Reuben at NZME in our Sound and Vision team, and honestly, he’s one of those people you don’t realise how much you rely on until they leave.
He was a natural from day one. He learned fast, worked efficiently, was easy to collaborate with, and just quietly very good at what he did.

He also has a really natural way with talent and clients. Whether he was booking voice artists, running live attended sessions, or helping someone who was new (and nervous) behind the mic, he was calm, patient and kind.
On a personal level, he’s easy going, reliable, and a genuinely good team member. When he left NZME, it left a real hole in the workflow and in the team culture. We still miss him, and so do the clients who worked with him regularly.
I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to recommend Reuben. You’d be lucky to have him."
